About Dr. Susan Fisher
Dr. Susan Fisher is a developmental optometrist in practice in Westbury. Her office provides a wide range of medical and optical eye care. Dr. Fisher has experience treating patients with special needs, acquired brain injury, low vision, and binocular disorders.
After receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from the SUNY College of Optometry in 1982, she worked several years in ophthalmology and optometric practices. Dr. Fisher opened a private practice in North Bellmore in 1988 with the goal of providing personalized eye care in a relaxed environment.
In 1996 she joined the medical staff of the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County caring for special needs patients. In 2011, Dr. Fisher moved her practice to a larger office in Westbury to provide state-of-the-art technologies to her patients.
Dr. Fisher is a Past President of the New York State Optometric Association and of the Nassau County Optometric Society. She is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Fisher is certified to provide low vision services for the New York State Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped.
About Dr. Gail Correale
The science behind how our eyes work has always fascinated Dr. Gail Correale. In fact, from the time she first donned a pair of prescription eyeglasses at the age of 10, She knew she would someday be an Optometrist. Although she started out in another direction, she never forgot her dream and after a successful career in the diamond jewelry business headed back to school, obtained a Doctor of Optometry degree, and ever since has dedicated herself to improving the vision of her patients.
A graduate of SUNY College of Optometry, Dr. Correale has been a practicing New Yok State Licensed Optometrist for more than a decade. She is dedicated to providing her patients with exceptional eye care from comprehensive eye exams using the latest available technology, to expert contact lens fittings and to complete Lasik consults and much more.
Dr. Correale is adept at all facets of eye care including general eye care, the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy using state-of-the art Optomap imaging. For those patients who wear contact lenses, Dr. Correale explores the latest lenses available to maximize her patients’ vision, comfort, and overall eye health. Working closely with prestigious doctors of LASIK Surgery, including Dr. Eric D. Donnenfeld, MD who is one of the leading refractive surgeons in the United States. Dr Correale also performs Lasik Consults along with pre-op and post-op eye care.
For the past 10 years, Dr. Correale has proudly served as the Treasurer and Board Member of the prestigious Nassau County Optometric Society, an organization that like herself, is dedicated to improving the vision and eye health of the public.
About Dr. Steven Schoenbart
Dr. Steven Schoenbart has been in the optical industry since 1978. Dr. Schoenbart graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA in 1986. He then completed an elective residency program at the Northport VA Medical Center, Northport, NY in Rehabilitative Optometry (Low Vision) in 1987 and began his practice located in East Meadow in 1988. In November 2008, Schoenbart Vision Care relocated to 901 Stewart Avenue, Garden City, NY. The new location offers, new hours, ample parking, as well as convenient access from all roadways.
Dr. Schoenbart has sat as a board examiner for the regional testing of optometrists with NERCOATS. He was selected to represent optometry in NYS on Governor Pataki’s Medical Advisory Board for the Department of Motor Vehicles from 1996-1998 and more recently 2010-2012. He has served on the board for the Nassau County Optometric Society since 1992 and was the Nassau County Optometric Society President from 1996-1998.
Dr. Schoenbart is NYS Certified in Low Vision-Rehabilitative Optometry to help patients who have decreased vision due to eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, optic atrophy, post-cataract surgery as well as post-stroke patients. Dr. Schoenbart fits an array of various contact lenses. He has spent many years on perfecting the fit of specialty contact lenses for those patients who were previously told they were unable to wear contact lenses due to corneal irregularities. Dr. Schoenbart recently received an award from Vistakon for his ability to fit one of the newest progressive bifocal contacts available to the public.
